Everyone knows that data is important to collect, but it can be difficult to identify the right sources for your data, and to actually use that data to make informed decisions. This online seminar series will explore a number of ways in which associations can effectively use data benchmarking, ranging from personal career growth, to developing and presenting organizational annual reports and infographics, all the way up to strategies for measuring an organization’s impact on its industry. This series, presented by a number of association professionals, will explore actionable strategies and clear insights, helping attendees to better use benchmarking in their organizations.

This online seminar series features facilitated audio content and conversations. Soon after registering, attendees will receive login information from Zoom. Participants will have access to the recorded session, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the program.

Meet the Speakers

Julie Sciullo
Chief Executive Officer, Association Analytics and Founder, Acumen

Julie is Chief Executive Officer of Association Analytics and Founder of Acumen. Under Julie’s leadership, Acumen is the #1 provider of data and analytics software to the association community. In her role, and through the introduction of Acumen, she has set out to change the way associations do business by giving them the ability to use data to make decisions with confidence and leverage insights that drive engagement and profitability. Prior to joining Association Analytics, Julie launched and grew an analytics platform that reduced the carbon footprint and increased overall sustainability for tens of thousands of commercial buildings throughout the U.S. Julie also spent 9 years working at CBRE, a Fortune 150 company, climbing the global corporate ladder to become one of the youngest members of the leadership team. She is a Board member of Association Women Technology Champions (AWTC). Julie earned her M.B.A. in Finance and Organizational Leadership from Duquesne University and a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Pittsburgh.

 


Patty Hampton, CSC, MCPC (She/Her)
Managing Partner & Chief Social Impact Officer, Nonprofit HR

Since 2001, Patty Hampton has served in a dual leadership capacity at Nonprofit HR as Managing Partner and Chief Social Impact Officer. Innovation is a personal core value of Patty’s which has helped her shape the firm’s executive recruitment and consultation services. Her expertise includes developing and delivering training programs and facilitating focus groups that result in an enriched employee/supervisor relationship and engaged workforce culture. Before joining Nonprofit HR, Patty Hampton served as Director of Human Resources with ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership. Before ASAE, Patty dedicated more than ten years of her career to a large trade association. Patty is a Master Certified Professional Coach (MCPC) through the Certified Life Coach Institute, accredited by the International Coaching Federation. Additionally, as a certified PDA (Personal Development Analysis) Analyst, through PDA International, she leverages the PDA Assessment as a reliable, scientifically validated tool specifically developed to understand and describe the behavioral styles of individuals in hiring and working environments. The PDA is used in the firm’s retained executive, professional search business, and internal hiring and talent development practices. Patty is also a Certified Search Consultant (CSC) and an advocate for the Women in Leadership Council with the American Staffing Association. She is a former board member of the Social Enterprise Alliance.

 


Heidi Korthase

Heidi Korthase is an association professional with over 25 years of technology and association experience. She holds a master’s degree in computer information systems with a focus in database design. She loves solving tough business problems and approaches solutions by looking at the big picture. Having served as an IT director and manager over the past 14 years, she has a broad set of experiences with all types of system implementations and integrations. Heidi is deeply committed to using technology and data to drive business innovation, always considering ways to make operations more efficient and effective. She is often recognized as a motivational leader and team builder - leading to successful projects through effective collaboration and teamwork.

 


Chantal Almorond, CAE
Chief Information & Engagement Officer, The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR)

Chantal Almonord currently serves as the Chief Information & Engagement Officer at the Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). In her role, she oversees digital product strategy, IT services, and data strategy, aligning them with ISPOR's mission. Chantal also leads member services and global engagement activities, showcasing her commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the association space. Her involvement in ASAE's Empowered Women subcommittee and Technology Professionals Advisory Committee underscores her dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry. Chantal received the prestigious 2022 Association Women Technology Champions (AWTC) Technology Champion Award and is now an AWTC Board member.

 


Evan Reid
Director of Data Analytics, The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

Evan Reid, MPP has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Starting in 2006, they worked as a Theatrical Technician, providing technical services to local theaters, churches, and corporations. In 2007, they joined BLC Consulting Group as an Impala Support Coordinator, where they provided help desk support for Pfizer's automated randomization and drug distribution systems and developed data analysis reports. In 2009, Evan joined Westat as a Data Manager, leading evaluation, analysis, and data management projects for Westat's Center for Association Services. During their time there, they worked on various projects, including membership satisfaction surveys and third-party evaluation of education initiatives. Most recently, Evan worked as the Director of Data Analytics at The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), beginning in 2018. Overall, their experience showcases their expertise in data analysis, project management, and technical support.

Evan Reid, MPP, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Psychology from Union College, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Policy Analysis from The George Washington University, graduating in 2014.

 


Jennifer McNelly, CAE
Chief Executive Officer, American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP)

Jennifer M. McNelly, CAE, has more than 30 years of association, government, regulatory and business experience. She has served as the Society’s CEO since Aug. 16, 2018. She also serves as secretary and CEO of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in her dual leadership role. McNelly advances the organization’s mission to help its members and their employers create safe work environments worldwide through the prevention of injuries, illnesses and fatalities. She works with the Board of Directors and ASSP's professional staff to execute ASSP’s strategic plan for growth while addressing the evolving needs of 35,000 safety and health professionals around the globe. McNelly previously served as president of The Manufacturing Institute, the nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the national authority on attracting and developing world-class manufacturing talent. She has testified before Congress on manufacturing and workforce training and is past chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Future of Manufacturing. A certified association executive, McNelly earned the Secretary of Labor’s Exceptional Achievement Award and was named among the 100 Women Leaders in STEM.

 


Dean West, FASAE
Founder and President, Association Laboratory Inc

Dean West is the founder and President of Association Laboratory Inc. He leads client engagements and is a frequent speaker and facilitator for national and global association leadership meetings. Mr. West is a former association executive with experience as executive director, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer for both national and international membership organizations. He has been a consultant to the association community since 1992, and has provided services to hundreds of state, national, and international organizations. Dean West is a nationally recognized expert in association management. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives. Mr. West authored the chapter on Membership Research for the ASAE book, Membership Essentials and the chapter on Marketing Professional Development Programs in the ASAE book, Core Competencies in Professional Development. Mr. West is an experienced volunteer leader familiar with the demands of volunteer leadership. He is Past Chairman of ASAE’s Professional Development Council and has served on the ASAE Membership Council and the Editorial Board for the ASAE & the Center for Association Leadership Journal of Association Leadership. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Association Forum of Chicagoland.

 


Mark McCormack, Ph.D.
Senior Director, Research & Insights, EDUCAUSE

Mark McCormack, Ph.D., serves as the EDUCAUSE Senior Director of Analytics & Research, overseeing the association's member-facing data and analytics services (Core Data Service, ETRAC) and portfolio of original research projects. Before coming to EDUCAUSE, Mark served in leadership and research positions for professional associations and other non-profit organizations across a variety of spheres, including higher education, K-12 education, youth development, performing arts, and community development. His research has appeared in the Leadership & Organizational Development Journal, the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education, the Journal of Community & Applied Social Psychology, and the APA Handbook of Community Psychology, among other journals and edited volumes. Mark earned his Ph.D. in Community Psychology from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.

      Programs priced at less than $100: ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to ASAE Registration via e-mail at ASAEservice@asaecenter.org. Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.
